Santa Fe Parent Involvement Policy

Santa Fe Elementary has made the commitment to provide quality education for every child and to establish strong partnerships with parents. Shared responsibility for high student performance, frequent communication and ongoing parental involvement is an essential component for assuring academic success for our students.

Santa Fe is required to have an annual parent meeting to inform parents of our school’s participation as a Title I site and to explain the rights of parents to be involved with their child’s education. All parents will be invited and encouraged to attend our Back to School Night and/or Parent University meetings, which will be scheduled in the fall. Santa Fe Title I policies, programs, services and goals will be discussed, and an informational packet will be sent home with the parents. Information about availability and start up dates of Title I programs/activities will be communicated to parents through special notes concerning these programs/activities. A description of the curriculum, Oklahoma Academic Standards, and assessments used to monitor students’ progress in each grade will be offered during parent/teacher conferences. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend conferences with their child’s teacher in order to participate in decisions relating to the education of their child.

A variety of parent involvement meetings will be planned to respond to parent needs and help strengthen the home-school partnership connections. Meetings will be offered at various times to accommodate parent schedules.

A School-Parent-Student Compact will be utilized in an effort to formally recognize the importance of working together as equal partners in the educational process. It is our goal to enable each student to achieve the state’s high standards and reach his/her potential.

Communication between parents and teachers will be maintained on a continuing basis throughout the school year. Parents are provided the opportunity and encouraged to attend conferences, receive reports on students’ academic progress, and individual student assessment results. They will be made aware of school activities and news through Peach Jar, special notes, our school web page, the school wide Class Dojo, and PTA Facebook page.

Parents and staff will be involved in planning, reviewing, and improving the programs and services offered under the Title I plan. Needs assessment and program evaluation surveys will be conducted in the spring of each school year and will be utilized in conjunction with academic needs assessment to guide the revision of the plan for the following year.
